Brief

The BC Economic Development Corporation needed help with two key projects in their portfolio: (1) helping young startups based out of Western Canada tap into new geographical markets, and (2) organizing and running a 48-hour startup event "48H Top Chrono". Both were to be coordinated with inter-provincial and federal partners. With just six weeks ahead of the startup event, starting at zero, Launch & Sell was tasked with researching, identifying, contacting, and hiring business mentors, private and institutional sponsors, as well as jury members and inspiring entrepreneurs, to run a successful event.

What We Did

With just a day understanding key elements of the projects and core dynamics of the company, Launch & Sell immediately started the sales and marketing motion of prospecting B2B stakeholders, as well as sponsors. We also got involved in organization committees and proposed a new agenda for the event, more in line with what first-time entrepreneurs need in this kind of event: understanding their market and customers, creating a sustainable business model, and learning how to pitch effectively in front of experienced entrepreneurs, financiers, and investors. Launch & Sell also designed an application process for its customer and partners that would help grade and select startups with high potential to expand East. 

Results

When running a successful event seemed impossible, participants were eventually awarded 4-figure prizes, hours of free mentorship, and complimentary business services from renowned corporate partners such as Squarespace, BDC, Futurpreneur, and more.  Launch & Sell reached or exceeded all of its hiring goals for business mentors, members of the jury, and inspiring entrepreneurs, bringing savings of 75% on the associated budget. Last, we delivered the following workshop during the startup event: "how to pitch". The workshop was well-received and got many thank-you messages by email and LinkedIn, including from the winners: "Thank you for your workshop yesterday on how to pitch. We won, in great part thanks to your advice. We'll be in touch! - Sam"
Last, regarding the expansion help for young startups, Launch & Sell delivered a comprehensive set of selection criteria to apply, as well as an AI-powered tool which automatically grades and ranks submitted applications, keeping a human judgment factor in the selection process and helping partners save a minimum of 1 hour per application in their qualification and consultation process.

Understand your Potential Market:

  • Researched and expanded sales to 20 new countries.

  • Helped grow 2 new revenue niches, expand product offering, and ininovate in pricing strategy.​​​

Talk to your ICP and Personas:

  • Helped the company understand and increasingly reach out to their ideal customer profile and personas in the hotel space.

  • With an expanding product offering, helped Operto tailor its marketing and sales pitch to existing and new personas.

  • Made significant strides in the fastest-growing market segment (Airbnb-hotel hybrid), securing key customers, and bringing product learnings for the company to remain relevant in the world of hospitality technology.

Brief

Operto was a young startup that had an initial product getting traction, and needed someone fully looking after inbound and outbound sales to expand their recurring revenue footprint.

What We Did

Stepping in the business to sell their software and hardware full-time, Launch & Sell helped research, market and sell new products, expand to new strategic geographies, formulated recommendations to leadership, trained new hires, and educated teams between them via a fun, community weekly newsletter.

  • Trained and coached sales executives and sales development representatives, juniors and seniors alike.

  • Educated other roles (developers, marketers, and support specialists) on the reality of sales, with a workshop series called "A Day in Sales".

Build your Sales & Marketing Engine:

  • From < $20,000 in total monthly revenue before stepping in, brought over $200,000 in monthly recurring revenue.

  • Secured multiple strategic customers (top 3).

  • Looked after partner relations in strategic areas and geos.

  • Brought "power user" expertise in all sales tools and CRMs.

  • Built improved sales process using multiple tools and automation suite to boost outreach and improve the buyer experience.

 Un Monde de Coco 

A fictional comic series in French, for all audiences.

Brief

Un Monde de Coco is an art and business project run parallel to Launch & Sell. "Coco" is a common nickname and reference in French culture. You may know "Coco Chanel", but did you know that "(mon) Coco" is a way to call someone "buddy" or "darling"? Most French speakers around the world have a Coco in their lives, or know a business with a Coco name.

What I'm Doing

In the past few years, the first stories of Un Monde de Coco gained initial traction and encouraged me to write more, and eventually to consider turning them into a comic series. I am currently working on the product itself (illustrating), as well as the distribution strategy (online, offline, partnerships...), and all legeal elements of the venture (IP, ...). My goal in this creative venture is to to turn these funny, friendly characters into something that girls and boys can relate to.
